Collaboration between USU and Universities in China for Academic Development and Research

The Rector of Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), Prof. Dr. Muryanto Amin, S.Sos, M.Si, together with the Vice Rector for Asset and Business Management of USU, Dr. Ir. Luhut Sihombing, MP, Director of Internationalization and Global Partnerships, Prof. Dr. Eng. Himsar Ambarita, ST, MT and Director of Digitalization and System Integration, Dr. Emerson Pascaswira Sinulingga, ST, M.Sc., attended an invitation from universities in China on November 6-7, 2023. The aim of this visit is to establish academic collaborations that can strengthen USU's internationalization program, especially in a country with a large population like China. The USU Rector explained that this visit was a follow-up to the previous cooperation with HK Haibin Education Group Limited China.

The visit involved working meetings with various universities in China, including Yantai Nanshan University (YNU) and Yantai University (YU). At YNU, USU representatives signed an agreement to start a Joint Master Degree Program, and to collaborate in a joint research and exchange of staff and students. In addition, the rector also visited Shandong Nanshan Aluminum Co., Ltd, China's largest company in aluminum processing technology.

At Yantai University, USU explained the cooperation plan in the international staff mobility program, the creation of a joint degree program at the postgraduate level, and the exploration of YU lecturers to continue their doctoral education at USU. This collaboration is expected to produce mutually beneficial cooperation for both parties and encourage the transfer of technology and education between China and Indonesia.
