Data Science and Artificial Intelligence Collaboration: AIT Thailand and USU
The Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) in Thailand has partnered with Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) to develop data science and artificial intelligence. The President of AIT, Prof. Kazuno Yamamoto, enthusiastically welcomed the collaboration, stating that the development of these sciences is increasingly important and growing rapidly.
The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) between AIT and USU took place on Monday, October 3, 2022, as the first step of international collaboration. The main goal of this collaboration is to improve the academic quality of students and faculty of both universities and support the USU campus internationalization program.
The USU Rector, Dr. Muryanto Amin, S.Sos, MSi., welcomed this cooperation as a follow-up to previous communications. He hopes that this cooperation will result in various programs, including short courses, workshops, public lectures, and other activities, as well as possible student exchanges and international scientific cooperation. Present at the event were various representatives from USU and AIT, including Vice Rector III of USU Prof. Dr. Poppy Anjelisa Zaitun Hasibuan S.Si., M.Si., Apt; Director of Digitalization and System Integration, Emerson Pascawira Sinulingga ST., M.Sc. Ph.D; Dean of USU's Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology Dr. Maya Silvi Lydia; and accompanied by Indonesian Education Attaché to Thailand Ir. Achmad Wicaksono, M.Eng., Ph.D. Meanwhile, AIT Thailand was represented by the Dean of AIT's School of Engineering and Technology (SET), Prof. Dieter Trau, and AIT's Director for Office of International Affairs (OIA), Mr. Shawn P. Kelly.
