USU at the Erasmus+ Master in Industry 4.0 Meeting in Rome, Italy
Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) finally participated in the first meeting of the Erasmus+ Master in Industry 4.0 Cooperation project after several postponements since late 2019. The meeting was hosted by Unimarconi in Rome, Italy, on April 20-22, 2022, attended by the Rector, Muryanto Amin, USU Erasmus+ Master in Industry 4.0 Cooperation Coordinator Emerson Pascawira Sinulingga, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Ir. Fahmi, and Head of the Department of Electrical Engineering Suherman. Other participants from Italy, Greece, Cambodia, and Malaysia were also present.
This meeting is a strategic step for USU in implementing the spirit of Transformation Towards the Ultimate carried out by Rector Muryanto Amin. The Erasmus+ Master in Industry 4.0 Cooperation Project is part of USU's efforts to improve quality and compete at the international level. The purpose of the meeting itself is to establish master study programs in Industry 4.0 in several countries, with a focus on laboratory development and Virtual Learning Environment within a span of 3 years.
Rector Muryanto emphasized the importance of this collaboration in achieving the USU 2020-2024 Strategic Plan targets and Key Performance Indicators ( KPIs). USU is encouraged to have laboratories according to the needs of the Industrial Revolution 4.0 and implement the Merdeka Belajar - Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) policy. The Erasmus + program also opens opportunities for USU to establish new study programs that are responsive to world changes through collaboration with international and national institutions.
This collaboration also has a positive impact on USU in strengthening the international campus network and contributing to advancing the world of education. Through its participation in this project, USU seeks to develop scientific and research strengths to initiate similar clusters at the national and international levels through cooperation with the government and SMEs in North Sumatra and nationally. Currently, USU has become part of the Erasmus+ program as one of the universities selected to prepare competent graduates in the field of Industrial Revolution 4.0 through the establishment of a Master Study Program in Industry 4.0.
